When Hardeep & Monica asked us to Photograph there big Sikh Wedding Ceremony we were really excited. We have known Hardeep or as everyone in the industry knows him DJ H from Kudos for over 10 years and its was pleasure and a honour he had choosen us to be his wedding photographers.
The script felt as if it had been written. What needed to be done was clear, how to go about it was the important bit. Hardeep was insistent that this wedding was not to be crazy celebrity affair. This was a personal, family event. Where he could celebrate with his nearest and dearest in the classiest way possible. Guests had flown in from America, Canada, India and beyond.
Hardeep had in late 2013 made a trip to Delhi, where he handpicked NINE clothing as his personal designers for his clothing. Keen to look as glamourous as the bride, he called upon Vikki of Tie My Turban to apply the gracious touch to his crown.
Pink and Gold defined his stunning look.
With his friends keen to get on in with the action, RoyalBlue was selected as the colour to represent Hardeep Kataria. Thirty of H’s close friends and relatives donned Royal Blue Turbans which offered an overwhelming presence upon his arrival at Guru Panth Parkash Gurdwara,Leicester.
An entourage of Rolls Royce Phantoms, Rolls Royce Ghosts,Bentley Mulsanne and a variety of German supercars and 4×4’s escorted Hardeep to his wedding. H decided to travel in his favourite vehicle, the award winningMY W15H Rolls Royce Phantom from Kudos Cars.
A timely arrival and great weather meant every aspect of themorning could be enjoyed. A 20 piece Band Baja supplied by Band Baja UK andexclusively available through Kudos Entertainment greeted Hardeep and hisfamily. DJ H mounted a stallion Desi Wedding Horse, and rode into his weddingin true Maharaja style.
A party atmosphere was in full force with Band Baja UKplaying hit after hit and every guest dancing in celebration of the grooms grand entrance.
Hardeep and Monica took their vowels in front of the GuruGranth Sahib in a traditional Sikh wedding ceremony.
Monica looked simply stunning in a pink and antique gold wedding lengha. A beautiful ceremony ensued, with the couple also choosing to have their civil ceremony take place at the Gurdwara.
With the religious element complete, it was time to make way to Birmingham. A short 30 minute journey led guests to the the glamorous HiltonMetropole Hotel at NEC Birmingham.
Whilst some 700 guests gathered in the lobby for an elegant cocktail reception, final touches were being made in the main suite. Zibby, theDream Occasions team, Madhus and Kudos Music were all hard at work.
During this time Pellier Noire entertained guests with a great photo booth area, whilst the market leaders ‘Madhus Catering’ offered sumptuous canapés to the guests.
A table plan was drawn and by no means was it a simple task. The hard work does pay off and allows guests to be settled quickly and provides a much greater flow to your event. It also lets you give more of a personal touch with things like personalised menu cards.
As the grand doors opened to Monarch Suite, a sigh of amazement buzzed through the lobby. Guests were stunned as they were greeted by the most breathtaking theming and decor.
Stunning crystals, chandeliers, candles, floristry and velvets graces the venue. A formation of square and circular tables with clear shivari chairs added a dose of pure decadence.
Suspended from above was lighting that would leave most high profile events in their wake. A mixture of beam lighting, wash lighting, gobo effect and high end industry standard fixtures such as Clay Paky, Robe and Chauvet made up the 160 fixtures installed. It was all controlled by a full lighting and rigging team headed by lighting designer Mark Kenyon of StrictlyCome Dancing and Britain’s Got Talent Fame.
The main DJ Stage designed by DJ H consisted of Chauvet Nexus Panels, Chauvet P5 Led Split Screen and a further elevated stage for dance performers.
The white dance floor with gold border was etched with Hardeep & Monica’s logo and there stood a stunning Royal Wedding Cake fit only for King & Queen. The wedding cake was designed, baked and florally arranged exclusively by the uber talented Krishma Maya Mandalia.
With a circular LED bar supplied by Mobile Bar Hire set just opposite the dance floor, guests were able to enjoy a drink without havingto miss out on all the action. This is such an important factor for a great party.
Saturday The Guests Are Soon Seated…
Guests were soon seated by the enigmatic Toastmaster extraordinaire, Andy Bignold. Madhus catering then set about taking individual orders for starters. Such touches are a rarity in indian wedding’s but Madhus have the ability and experience to offer this fantastic service.
With the early formalities complete, guests eagerly anticipated the grand entrance of DJ H & Monica into their royal wedding reception. ‘Rather Be’ by Clean Bandit welcomed H and Monica into their wedding reception. With a rapturous applause the doors flung open and the stunning couple took their steps into the dream moment they had planned together for so long. Chris Williams performed saxophone along with the track and finished with a fantastic solo piece.
DJ H dressed in black velour and gold detail, took the hand of his beautiful wife and stepped to the centre stage. With a Kirpan used to cut their stunning wedding cake, the reception was officially initiated.
H and Monica then took their seats on their beautiful grand stage, expertly designed by Zibby of Dream Occasions. Following starters, a heartfelt and funny speech from H’s elder brother Rajan followed by a hilarious video capturing H’s ‘Journey to Love’ took to the screens.
The happy couple chose Jeene Laga Hoon as their first dancetrack. It signified the deep love and romance between them. The end of the first dance signalled the beginning of the party and boy was it a party…
Kudos Music has an array of DJ’s who are widely acknowledged as the best in the business. Rajeev B was specifically selected by H and he graciously took the decks, in his formidable style. Rajeev performed outstandingly from start to finish, working his way in and out of genres in spectacular style.

It is said Kudos are experts in wedding entertainment and theming. This term is bandied about far too easily. This is a just a glimpse of what expert theming and planning can do. A huge thanks to Zibby of DreamOccasions, Madhus Catering, Jas Johal and the Kudos Music team and everyone put their souls into this beautiful occasion.
